Much like any Kansas bride can attest to, weather during a spring or fall wedding is a roll of the dice. I can’t tell you how many times I looked at the forecast before Jake and Natalie’s wedding at Chrisman Manor, to find day-to-day, drastic changes. It went from zero to fifty to ninety percent chances of rain multiple times. The day before their beautiful rural Kansas wedding, it wasn’t looking good. 90% chance of thunderstorms. While rain doesn’t mean my clients won’t get stellar imagery and our 100% best, I always feel for them. On that Saturday in March, I arrived to Natalie in the absolute best spirits (as every bride should be!). We went about our business, working hard and documenting the prep part of the day. Later when she had a moment, the weather was mentioned, and what Natalie said nearly made me cry. I’m paraphrasing, “The weather hasn’t looked great, but it doesn’t matter, as I knew Melissa would rock it either way!”
To have that trust from my clients is paramount, and I am absolutely honored to document one of the most important days, rain, snow, or shine. Wouldn’t you know it though, that 90% chance of rain turned out to be ZERO. While it was cloudy, all of that worrying was for nothing. We were able to sneak outdoors for their portrait session without a hitch. Mother nature was surely on Natalie and Jake’s side and we were all so thankful.
