Sitting in my Vegas hotel room, packing my bags from the madness that was WPPI 2013, and BAM!  Email.  But not just ANY email.  Late last week I was given the thrilling news that the previous Cover Contest I had entered for Chic Critique Forum  was one of five honorable mentions and will be published in the new edition of the magazine!  What an amazing way to end an amazing week!

I always have entered these contests with a chip on my shoulder; knowing that there are so many amazing, AMAZING photographers out there that will *probably* have a better image which will *probably* win or be featured.  Ironically, earlier in the week at one of my WPPI platform classes, photographer Catherine Hall gave a very inspirational speech about “going for it.”  Taking the leap, whether it be by submitting your work, going the extra mile to get a job, or taking a leap of faith.  Yes yes, I know I didn’t actually get chosen for the cover, but out of the hundreds of entries, mine was chosen to be featured anyway. MINE. WOOT!  Lesson. Learned. (Don’t be afraid!)
