Exploring new locations is, for lack of a better term, my jam. While there’s nothing wrong with using the same beautiful areas for engagement photos or wedding photos (looking at you, park near my office), its fun to get out there and shoot places I’m not as familiar with. When Natalie and Jake mentioned they’d love to have their engagement photos in their hometown of Meriden, near Topeka, KS, I jumped on it. When they told me they’d like to utilize an old abandoned relocated “old western” building site, I was sold. We started on this small town hotspot, and then drove a few miles away to finish the session, at a spot that turned out to be incredibly personal for them. While now it is basically an open field, in the next couple years they’ll be building their dream, forever home, overlooking beautiful pastures and ponds, their neighbors being a few close friends and family, and a herd of rambunctious cattle. We’re so excited for their upcoming wedding at Chrisman Manor! If they have as many smiles as they did while taking engagement photos, it’s going to be an absolutely amazing day!
