Maybe it wasn’t exactly how they had planned, but the love they have for each other and for their families was nothing Covid could reckon with. The anticipation as they got ready just a floor away from each other at Crossroads Hotel was palpable. As they put on their carefully chosen wedding outfits, laughed and joked around with their closest friends and family, and opened their gifts from one another, I could feel the excitement growing for their first look and “minimony” (as Marissa would call it) at Tom’s Town, a popular prohibition era downtown craft spirit distillery in the Crossroads District of KC. Marissa was glowing, and Anthony’s quiet, giddy nervousness wasn’t hard to pinpoint as he enjoyed a beer or two with his dad (who would soon be the one to marry the couple), Marissa’s brothers, and best friends.
Their Tom’s Town wedding story played out like a wonderfully sweet dream; tears and laughter not in short supply as they were married in front of the people who have raised them and been there for them all throughout their long courtship. While they are still planning on having the big bash in 2021 (and hopefully post pandemic), their minimony couldn’t have been more perfect. It was such an honor!
